Unfortunately African Americans are hit hard with dementia in their later years. Research shows lifestyle and genetics are driving factors. It is a diagnosis as feared as cancer for the individual and the family.
Hamilton Park United Methodist Church is hosting Brain Smart University on Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dementia experts will be on hand to share information on:
- How the brain ages normally;
- Diseases of brain aging, such as Alzheimer’s disease;
- Lifestyle practices for improving successful brain aging;
- Current research updates.
