TeCo Theatrical Productions, Inc. announced this week the kick off of their Spotlight Season featuring four-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bishop Arts Theatre Center. The playwright will appear as part of the Dramatists Guild Fund’s Traveling Masters Program designed to bring prominent dramatists into communities across the country to provide insight into their craft and creative process.

TeCo’s Spotlight Series will continue on April 9, 2016 with 13-time bestselling author Victor MClothin. The author will talk about his journey from overcoming poor reading skills as a child to a critically acclaimed novelist and celebrated filmmaker. The lecture will begin promptly at 3 p.m. with a book signing following the event.
TeCo’s 2015/2016 theater season will open with The Face of Emmett Till by Mamie Till-Mobley & David Barr III on Oct. 23 through Nov. 1 with a preview night on Oct. 22, 2015 under the direction of award-winning playwright Ruth Cantrell. The play was first produced by Pegasus Players in Chicago during the theatre’s 1999-2000 season and tells the searing story of the horrific day in August of 1955 when the body of 14-year old Emmett Till was discovered floating in the Tallahatchie River. Showtimes are 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays and 7:30 p.m. nightly Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Black Nativity by Langston Hughes returns during the holiday season with an adaptation and direction by Selmore Haines III. The production will feature a multi-cultural cast and Michael Hubbard returns as musical director. Production dates are Dec. 10 – 20 at the Bishop Arts Theatre.
