Tony Lee Cason, 55 years old, is facing manslaughter charges following the death of a physician he is accused of attacking on Thursday.
According to the probable cause affidavit, around 1 p.m. on Friday, June 30 Dallas Police were called to Timberlawn Mental Health System located at 4600 Samuell Boulevard regarding an assault. The police discovered a patient restrained by staff and Dr. Ruth Mardock was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries she sustained. On Saturday, Dr. Mardock died from the injuries and the assault charges were upgraded to manslaughter
The affidavit indicated Cason was reportedly upset when informed he was being transferred to a different facility. When Dr. Mardock turned a corner, Cason was standing outside of his room and suddenly attacked her. Mardock lost consciousness from her head hitting the hard flooring.
The bail for Cason has been set at $100,000.00.
