High school freshman Roman Scott has entered the Khan Academy Breakthrough Junior Challenge, where students ages 13-18 from over 100 countries can participate for a $250,000 scholarship to college. The Breakthrough Junior Challenge was created to honor advancement in science and math.
Participants are to write and create a 5-minute video explaining a concept or theory in the field of physics, math, or life science. The criteria that the students will be judged on are their ability to communicate complex ideas, in engaging, creative, and illuminating ways. The Challenge is organized by the Breakthrough Prize Foundation.
Scott said on his YouTube page, “In this video, I will explain what the Theory of Everything is by introducing the concepts of Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics, show where the incompatibility lies, and how String Theory is able to unify these two concepts and explain everything, under one set of rules and one basic idea.”
The North Dallas Gazette wishes Scott success in his quest to win the Khan Academy Breakthrough Junior Challenge.
