In eight weeks, thousands of runners will take to the streets of downtown Dallas for one of North Texas’ most popular 5K runs: The Oncor Mayor’s Race 5K. The event starts and finishes at Reunion Park in downtown Dallas, is chip timed, and includes a technical training shirt for each participant. Registration is currently available for $25 at bmwdallasmarathon.com.

Started in 2003, the Oncor Mayor’s Race 5K is a great event for runners looking for an end-of-year run or a final tune-up before the BMW Dallas Marathon or half marathon. The 5K race begins at 9 a.m., with a one-mile fun run preceding for families or participants looking for a scenic jogging tour of downtown Dallas.

Made possible by Dallas ISD and race partners, the Oncor Mayor’s Race 5K is free to any Dallas ISD student. Interested students or families should check with their school’s respective PE teachers for more information on training runs and day-of preparations. Many local businesses participate in the Adopt-A-School program, helping sponsor and train with a specific Dallas ISD school’s students in preparation for race day.

The Oncor Mayor’s Race 5K is part of BMW Dallas Marathon race weekend. For more information or to register, visit bmwdallasmarathon.com.
