One Wrong Move Can Kill details Genaro Camacho’s notorious murder rampage of Dallas man

Testimony from the riveting trial is the backbone of this new based on true crime release from Blazing Star Books and Elaine Fields Smith. Taken directly from the Genaro Camacho, Jr.’s capital murder court transcript, One Wrong Move – Can Kill is filled with shocking facts. Reference material consisting of over 1,500 pages of court transcript obtained from the Texas State Archive and personal interviews made up the research necessary to write the story.
Camacho, a drug smuggler, was suspected of even more murders, but convicted of killing David L. Wilburn on May 10, 1988, who did not realize he was  walking into the middle of a kidnapping attempt of his neighbor. Camacho and accomplices were trying to kidnap, Sam Wright, 57, Evellyn Banks, 31, and Banks’s 3 year old son Andre. Wilburn, 25 year old from Dallas, was ordered on the floor and shot in the back of the head, Sam escaped and was able to notify police. Unfortunately his son and wife were taken away in a car, their bodies were found three days later buried in a shallow grave covered by kitty litter.
Mexican officials refused to cooperate with the United States government’s request to turn off Camacho who had escaped across the border. Eventually the FBI conducted a sting operation and lured him back to the United States. He was convicted by a Dallas jury in 1993 and executed on Aug. 26, 1998. He denied being the killer even as he faced his execution.
Fans of One Wrong Move – Can Kill have shared, “Truly horrifying because it’s based on a true story. This novel explains the how and the why behind a horrible series of crimes committed by one man. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop,” and “Well written, Elaine draws us all into this dark world and chilling story of how being in the wrong place, bad decisions and being with the wrong people leads to a very dark path. A must read.”
