Skip Murphy and Company reteam for new show

By Joseph Green-Bishop, NDG Special Contributor

When legendary radio personality Tom Joyner needed a temporary replacement during his weeks of convalescing from surgery, he quickly turned to another radio legend to host his national morning show.

Joyner asked Skip Murphy, a radio legend inDallasfor fifteen years, to entertain his listeners. This was not difficult for Murphy, aNorth Carolinanative, who has once again teamed up with broadcast partners Nanette Lee, Sam Putney, Wig and Chris Arnold. They have reassembled the team for a daily two-hour broadcast online.

“We want people to know that we are back,” said Skip while sitting in theNorth Dallasstudio where the team broadcasts their internet radio show five days each week. “We are the same great show, now in social media, he said.

“It was God who led us back together as a team,” said Putney, a native ofHoustonwho spent many of his early radio years inLos Angeles. “I worked with some wonderful people on the west coast, but I have never worked with a team of professionals like the one that we have assembled. We are more than a radio show. We are a family whose broadcast presence is crucial to the lives of all of those who listen to our show.”

The five of them ended their first collective radio run in 2007. All of them went their separate way, sometimes not communicating with each other for months.  In 2010, they decided to make a demo in June.

Encore Entertainment is the group’s brand name, according to Chris, a native ofMemphis. “Even though our show is one the internet, there are advertising and investment possibilities available for companies, large and small.”

“While we believe that we are excellent radio personalities,” Nanette, a nationally known comedian said, “Our faiths are the foundations of what inspires us to do what we do. God has not brought us this far to leave us,” she said.

As Skip said, “We have returned to do what we are best at doing, giving from our hearts to those who share their mornings with us.”

Fans can enjoy the show live each morning from 9 – 11 a.m. (Central).  Listeners can reach the show any time of the night or day online at www.smacdfw.com or www.skipmurphyandcompany.com and also via a free app can be downloaded on smart phones.
