Ladies, get ready, R&B crooner Howard Hewett is performing on Friday, Oct. 16 as well as Saturday Oct. 17 in Fort Worth. Fans are certainly looking forward to a “A Night to Remember” at the Fort Worth’s Austin Event Center located at 1111 E. Berry Street.

When the Akron, Ohio native arrived in Los Angeles it was his feet, not his voice that opened doors for Hewett, as a dancer on the legendary Soul Train. Then once he joined Shalamar, his career took off. Fans helped the group soar to the top with hits such as “The Second Time Around,” “Full of Fire,” and “Dead Giveaway.” Of course, like many other groups, they broke up but Hewett’s career continued with hits like “I’m For Real” and “Stay.”

After 1995’s It’s Time, Hewett stopped recording solo, spending much of his time providing wonderful guest vocals on albums by jazz artists such as Joe Sample, Brian Culbertson, George Duke and Everett Harp and on several gospel albums. Then in 2001, he recorded his first all gospel album, The Journey, on Sony, followed a year later by The Journey Live: From the Heart before returning to the R&B world. Last year he released “You Still Live Inside of Me,” a song that combined elements of both country and soul.
