The leaders at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio are acknowledging they received numerous accusations of sexual misconduct from female trainees. Reportedly 31 victims have come forward so far.  The male instructors are accused of sexually involvement with female students. The preliminary investigation has already led to rape and sexual assault charges being filed.

“Six of the instructors face criminal charges including rape, aggravated sexual assault, adultery, and engaging in improper sexual relationships with female trainees. One of those trainers is charged with having had improper conduct with 10 female recruits. Another who pleaded guilty to a charge of an improper relationship later admitted to prosecutors that he had been involved with 10 female recruits.

The Air Force said there are ongoing investigations of alleged sexual misconduct by six other military training instructors at the base. Lackland employs about 500 military instructors at the base. More than 35,000 of the Air Force’s incoming airmen go through their initial training there, 22 percent of them are women.”

Gen. Edward A. Rice Jr., the Air Force’s commander of training and education assured reporters they are leaving “no stone unturned” even reaching out with a survey to former recruits. Thousands of trainees are being interviewed regarding any inappropriate sexual conduct or violation carried out by instructors. They are promising to deal with the offenders.
