The AT&T Performing Arts Center announced today that The National Tour of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL, crowned the biggest box office hit of the season by the New York Times, will play in Dallas as part of the 2014/2015 Broadway Series season at the AT&T Performing Arts Center’s Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House in the Dallas Arts District. The hit Broadway musical features music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalogue and a book by Berry Gordy.
MOTOWN THE MUSICAL has celebrated weekly grosses over $1 million every single week on Broadway since previews began March 11, continually breaking its own box office records at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre and selling every ticket available for every performance in advance of opening. No other untried Broadway show has ever achieved this while opening cold in New York, and MOTOWN THE MUSICAL remains one of the highest grossing sold out shows on Broadway. In only eight months, the show has seen by over 400,000 people on Broadway and is poised to do the same across the country when the national tour begins in Chicago in April 2014.

MOTOWN features arrangements and orchestrations by Tony Award® nominee Ethan Popp (Rock of Ages), who also serves as music supervisor in reproducing the classic “Sound of Young America,” with co-orchestrations and additional arrangements by Tony Award® nominee Bryan Crook (“Smash”) and dance arrangements by Zane Mark (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels).
