Irving Police Department has issued a statement that Ahmed Mohamed’s family can pick up the clock related to the alleged “hoax bomb” taken from him on Sept. 14 at MacArthur High School. According to the police, they notified a family representative on Sept. 18 that he, or a designated representative can pick-up the items.

This statement from the police was in response to reports the family has hired an attorney to regain the clock that sparked an international outcry. The family’s hiring of Thomas Bowers and Reggie London as their legal representatives is seen as the first step in an upcoming lawsuit against the school officials and police.

According to a statement from the family, Mohamed and his siblings have withdrawn from Irving ISD “because of religious persecution,” they are now planning to homeschool the children.
