‘Undercovers’ cancelled by NBC

Low ratings have caused NBC to pull the plug on “Undercovers.”

The network announced Thursday that it will not request additional episode of the spy drama starring Boris Kodjoe, who is known for his roles in movies such as “Madea’s Family Reunion” and Showtime’s “Soul Food.” DimeWars reports three more episode of the show will run on NBC.

With two blacks as the leads of “Undercovers,” it was hailed as one the most diverse new shows of the fall lineup. Sadly, viewers were not drawn to the show. The Nov. 3 episode tallied a 1.3 million viewers rating and 5 million total viewers since its mid-September premiere.

“Undercovers,” directed by J.J. Abrams, revolves around a husband and wife team of former spies, Steven (Kodjoe) and Samantha Bloom (Gugu Mbatha-Raw). The couple is pulled back into service after their close friend Leo Nash (Carter MacIntyre) is reported missing.
