Molina Medical Center partners with North Dallas Gazette

by Hope King

With innovative healthcare, a commitment to customer service and a passion for the community the Molina Medical Center is making a difference in the city of Irving and beyond.

Now Dr. Molina has partnered with the North Dallas Gazette to provide an “Ask the Expert” column.  The column will provide the North Dallas Gazette readership information that is preventative in nature as a pose to reactive.  You can look for this column to be featured once a month and various opportunities to ask your questions.

The Molina Medical Center services the health and wellness needs of the entire family from newborns to the elderly.  Nestled on 1901 Irving Boulevard, the Molina Medical Center is a one-stop shop for healthcare needs.  With a medical offices that include primary care physicians, dentist, an optometrist, an on-site pharmacy and a host of other services. The patients of the center benefit from the convenience and a collaborate effort that ensures quality care.

“As a patient of the Molina Medical Center, you can be confident in knowing you will receive the absolute best care possible in an affordable manner because it does our patients no good to provide a treatment that they cannot afford,” said Dr. Oscar Molina, Primary Physician and owner of Molina Medical Center.

Dr. Molina was born in Mexico and moved to El Paso, Texas at the age of three.  He attributes the work ethic he learned while working in his father’s mechanic shop and throwing two paper routes at a young age as helping him get to where is today.

Research shows, that the most successful practices boost patient motivation by demonstrating that the practice is committed to their patients.  At Molina Medical Center, commitment means spending time with patients follow up between visits, and in many cases patients have Dr. Molina’s personal cell phone number.  Extraordinary care is taken to protect patients from preventable health crisis.

“There is a doctor’s office on every corner and at the end of the day it is about relationships,” said Elizabeth Sauseda, Molina Medical Center patient. “And Dr. Molina really cares about the people he helps.”

Another important life lesson that Dr. Molina learned was to take pride in where you came from and your community, thus it is of no surprise that Dr. Molina and the Molina Medical Center charitably give quietly to the community but speaks volumes to the people who benefit.

The Molina Medical Center has coordinated food drives, delivered heaters in the winter and fans in the summer and gifts during the holiday season to several of its house call service patients.

“We just do it (community outreach) because people need help, especially the elderly,” Dr. Molina said as he recounted a story about a patient that was living in a storage unit with no bathroom and no air conditioning.   Dr. Molina initially provided health services and a fan to the man and then was instrumental in getting him a better place to live.

In 2005, the Molina Medical Center serviced over 500 displayed Hurricane Katrina victims with free medical care and prescriptions.  Dr. Molina and his staff extended the goodwill even further by providing food, transportation, and lodging for victims too.

“The lobby was full but Dr. Molina made sure everybody was seen and had the medicine they needed free of charge, it was amazing,” said Rachel Roberson, Katrina victim serviced at the Molina Medical Center.

Dr. Molina has been in Irving since 1998 starting with a two room practice and now with theMolinaMedicalCenter, a 10,000 square-foot facility.  His outreach to the community goes beyond the quality medical care patients receive on the inside but extends to the practice on the outside. He commissioned an artist that made stunning stain glass windows that wrap around the whole facility with two 6 feet-tall swans at the entrance and various sculptures through the landscape.

Additionally, the Molina Medical Center has upcoming events including, community health fairs and outreach events, blood drives, and discounted screenings.  For more information on the Molina Medical Center call 972-259-6900 or visit them online at www.molinamedicalcenter.com or in-person at 1901 W.
