Mountain View College and Brightstart plan to train 251 healthcare employees

Mountain View College (MVC), in partnership with BrightStar Healthcare of Texas, received a $394,507 Skills Development Fund grant from Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to train 251 healthcare employees. A grant announcement ceremony with MVC, BrightStar, and TWC representatives will take place on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 10 a.m. at MVC’s Economic and Workforce Development in B149.

The goal of the Skills Development Fund grant is to increase the skill level and wages of the Texas Workforce. Through the Mountain View College grant partnership with BrightStar, 124 new employees and 127 incumbent workers will be trained to improve core competencies in the healthcare industry.

“Today’s economy is a challenge for the maintenance of a continuous workforce and resulting quality of life, therefore it is a serious part of our service to provide job training opportunities for our business partners,” said Mountain View College Executive Dean of Workforce and Continuing Education, Patricia Webb. “Ultimately, in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission, we will increase the skill set of workers thereby providing long-term employment.”
