Local entrepreneur featured on 40 Under 40 in Collin County awards

Collin County business owner, Tarsha Polk was recently selected to receive the Collin County Business Press’ 40 Under 40 award, which will be presented on June 6 at the Hyatt Place in Garland.

“I am honored to be amongst the first class of 40 Under 40 for the Collin County Business Press,” according to Polk who is professionally known as The Marketing Lady. “It is a wonderful feeling to be recognized by the community for my business acumen and philanthropic involvement.”

Polk was also selected by Who’s Who of Black Dallas to be featured in its inaugural edition on May 24 at the Black Academy of Arts and Letters. The publication recognizes African-Americans achievements in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The 38 year old Polk is a professional marketing coach, speaker and author of the book, Beyond the Business Card: Strategic Networking for Success. She formed The Marketing Lady in 2003 to assist small to mid-sized companies with innovative marketing solutions.

Polk served on the board of directors for Dress for Success Dallas, a non-profit organization, and was a founding board member of the Collin County Black Chamber of Commerce. Her passion for small business development led her to offer training for low to moderate income individuals and military veterans on entrepreneurship.  Additionally, she has served as President of the Greater Dallas Urban League Young Professionals.

Polk holds a Bachelors of Science Degree from Old Dominion University, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and she is currently a part-time adjunct marketing professor for DeVry University.
