National Running Day Goal: log 100,000 miles on a single day

As runners faithfully lace up their shoes across the country in celebration of National Running Day, their miles can now earn perks.  Competitor Group Inc., the leading media and event resource in the active lifestyle industry, is encouraging runners nationwide to log their miles online at www.competitor.com  on Wednesday, June 6.

National Running Day is an opportunity to inspire and motivate athletes of all abilities, including those who are running their very first miles. “We’re pleased to offer collective online platforms where everyone can celebrate their healthy choices”,  said Lucy Diaz, Vice President of Advertising for Competitor Group, Inc. “As running enthusiasts share their passion for the sport, it’s also a great chance for runners to commit themselves to register and begin their training for a fall race.”

National Running Day, held annually on the first Wednesday in June, celebrates the passion shared between the more than 49 million people in the U.S. who run. Competitor.com hopes to log 100,000 miles in just one day as runners take part in organized community fun runs or hit the pavement on their own.
