PUC considering a vote THURSDAY to increase Texas electricity costs

The Public Utility Commission (PUC)–the state agency that oversees Texas’ electric utilities (may vote tomorrow), Thursday, June 28, on a proposal that some estimates say would cost Texas electricity customers as much as $4 billion per year. Proponents say that this move is needed to encourage power generators to build more plants to avoid blackouts, but under the PUC’s proposal there is no guarantee the plants will ever be built.

Concerned Texans should urge the PUC to say no to this rate hike.

What does this mean for you? Quite possibly a steep hike in your monthly electric bill during the hot summer months with very little to show for it.

Tell the PUC to say no to this rate increase. It costs too much and does too little.

The PUC is on a fast-track with this proposal. It needs to slow down before making a rash decision that can drain your pocketbook.

Your money is at stake. The PUC commissioners need to hear from you right away!
