On Sunday, July 1st 2012 I challenged the members of our Church (The Rhema Life Fellowship Church) to commit to performing simple acts of kindness in their individual homes and communities. I believe that there are times when the church needs to be more visible in the community in service and in compassion. Every year in North Texas there are a handful of unfortunate fatalities due to scorching temperatures, so after praying about how we can better serve our community, we decided to collectively purchase 25 new fans to be distributed within our community. The members of Rhema responded in a gracious and supportive way, by connecting with the City Of Plano, and Dr. Myrtle Hightower. Rhema has supported other outreach efforts internationally as far as Japan (sent 1 truck load of bottled water); Tanzania Africa (sent 1000 pairs of shoes); Haiti (sent 1 truck load of bottled water), you never know the impact you may have in this world and in your community if you only perform simple acts of kindness. The church of today has to be very careful not to forsake “Being The Church”, with just “Having Church”. As we follow the footsteps of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, inevitably we will find ourselves outside of the sanctuary in the streets ministering to the needs of society.
