The Texas icon Big Tex, celebrating his 60th year of greeting State Fair of Texas visitors, was destroyed by fire. Officials believe an electrical short in the neck area caused a fire and within minutes the structure was burned down to the frame, with only the hands remain.

No one was hurt, the State Fair of Texas did not close and will remain open through the closing on Sunday. The area will remain roped off in case the structure falls.

PR spokesperson has already indicated they will rebuild in time for the 2013 State Fair of Texas.
