Remember The Five Heartbeats back in the early 90s? Michael Wright played the role of Eddie King, Jr. Well while under the influence of alcohol, Wright drove his 1978 black Rolls Royce slam into a parked and marked NYPD patrol car occupied by two officers! Wright was trying to park his car when running into the police car in Manhattan.
Wright could not have been more wrong. When the officers went to check on him to see if he was alright, they detected the heavy amount of alcohol on his breath (without even using a breathalyzer).
Once given a sobriety test, the expected results were affirmed when Wright was found to be legally liable. His alcohol level was well above the legal limit, causing him to fail the sobriety test and get arrested and booked for DUI charges.
There is no worse way to start and spend your day. This humiliating event unfolded on an unlikely Sunday morning, and maybe now Wright has learned a lesson from this incident. As illegal as drinking and driving is, running into an occupied police car will assure you are given a chance to sober up in jail.
Luckily no one was seriously injured from this incident. The officers involved in this automobile accident were sent to a hospital to be checked and treated.
