Have you ever thought about why a football never gets deflated in a game? When you think about the huge, burly men that kick the ball, throw it, pounce on it, fumble it and yet it never gets “squashed” or loses its size. It is the law of physics; the internal pressure of the ball is much greater than all the pressure that 22 men can place upon it externally.
Christians are the same; with the power of the Holy Spirit residing in their hearts and lives, it is greater than all the pressure of the external world.
Think about the different opponents who come to impede or block your progress. Satan’s strategy is to deflate you and render you inoperative, but the Holy Spirit gives you buoyancy (confidence.) You can roll with the punches. It may seem that at times that you are being tossed around by circumstances, but with the God’s power within, you will always bounce back. 1 John 4:4 is a great comfort to many people who are not having it very easy in life. It is a constant reminder of God’s sustaining grace, Christ’s resident peace, and the Holy Spirit’s indwelling power. Greater is the power within us than the pressure upon us. Hang in there Christians; in spite of all, we are winning! “. . . Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4
Take Time to Listen: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5 (KJV)
As you are going about your everyday life, and you are facing a problem, the very first thing you should do is ask God for His wisdom. Not money; not power; not even healing. But ask for His wisdom.
God’s wisdom is the key that will unlock every door in your life. It will turn your failure into success. Stop wasting your prayers begging God for things you think you need; instead, spend some time in listening to what He has to say about your situation.
Here’s what you need to do. First, lay out the entire problem before God, not because He doesn’t know what you’re going through, but because laying it out helps you. It helps you see things from a more objective point of view.
Second, listen for the Holy Spirit to advise you. Pay attention to what He says through the written Word. Most likely, the care of your problem has choked the Word of God out of your heart. Mark 4:18-19.
As you are listening, be sure to remain teachable. Be ready to accept rebuke if necessary. Be very honest with God. Look for ways in which you’ve been wrong and confess them to Him. Confession just gives you the opportunity to get ride of them.
Third, act on the wisdom that God gives you. Let go of your own methods and put His methods into operation. As you pray be obedient, if you don’t, that wonderful wisdom won’t do you any good at all. It’s the only thing that can permanently solve the problems that you have been facing or will face in the future.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the Heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. . . “ Isaiah 55:8-11.
Take Time: Take time to THINK; the Bible says that if a man lack wisdom, let him ask God, it is the source of wisdom. Take time to DREAM; it is the fountain of the future. Take time to PLAY, it is the way to stay young at heart. Take time to REFLECT; it is the way to know God.
Take time to SMILE; it is the road to happiness; you will also use less muscles. Take time to LAUGH; it is the music of the soul. Take time to LOVE; it is God’s greatest gift. Take time to PRAY; it is the greatest power on earth.
Think about this: Mahatma Gandhi once wrote that there were seven sins in the world: 1) Wealth without work. 2) Pleasure without conscience. 3) Knowledge without character. 4) Commerce without morality. 5) Science without humanity. 6) Worship without sacrifice. 7) Politics without principle.
