A coalition of labor, faith and community organizations are launching their campaign to extend middle class tax cuts on Monday Dec. 10 – snow, sleet or rain. Representatives of local groups like Texas Fair Share and additional local activists are delivering petitions encouraging their representatives to set aside politics and work together to avert the fiscal cliff crisis the automatic federal budget cuts are expected to ignite.
Texas Republican Congressman Jeb Hensarling (District 5) recently went on CNN and was unable to answer critical questions about his plans to avert the fiscal cliff. (Link to video). A coalition of local Dallas groups are working together to make sure Congressman Hensarling – who was recently elected Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee for the next Congress – fights for the middle class and works on a balanced approach to move our country forward. They plan to rally in front of his office located in Dallas at 6510 Abrams Rd., today at Noon.
Later in the day The Texas Alliance for Retired Americans, MoveOn and others plan to host a rally for economic justice outside Sen. John Coryn’s office located at 5001 Spring Valley Rd. from 4 – 6 p.m. Gene Lantz is planning to attend and has even written a Christmas Carol for the event:
