NTTA celebrates business diversity milestone

PLANO – The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) announced last week 2012 diversity participation reached the highest point in the Authority’s history. This is the latest step in the NTTA’s effort to encourage and foster the inclusion and growth of disadvantaged, minority, women-owned and small business enterprise participation in all NTTA procurements and contracts.

In 2012, NTTA diversity spending with D/M/WBE firms in prime and subcontracting roles increased to 25.1 percent of total spending, representing nearly 5 percent annual growth. The NTTA also showed more D/M/WBE firms working as prime contractors and across the board increases in all four major procurement categories – construction, professional, consulting and goods and services.

“This was a team effort that started at the top and has moved throughout the whole organization,” said John Martinez, president of the Regional Hispanic Contractors Association and NTTA Business Diversity Advisory Council member.
