West Main elementary receives superior rating

West Main elementary choir

On April, 29 32 students from West Main Elementary choir competed in the Pride of Texas Music festival in Plano, Texas, choirs and bands competed in the festival throughout the day and the competition for each group was music.

The West Main choir performed a two-part arrangement of Circle of life with Nant Ingonyama from Disney’s the Lion King and Jackson 5 two-part medley arrangement of I want you back/ABC.

The choir performed before a panel of three judges and each judge used the following rubric to rate how well the music was performed. I (Superior), II (Excellent), III (Good), IV (Fair), and V (Poor).

West Main Elementary choir took the top prize, taking home the first division Superior rating.

Grades levels for the choir ranged from second to fourth grade.
