City officials and NBA power forward Kenyon Martin to tip-off free basketball camp for area youth

playMayor Mike Rawlings, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Tennell Atkins and New York Knicks power forward Kenyon Martin, a native of Dallas, will officially tip-off the fourth annual Hoops for Kids Basketball Camp. The event will highlight the upcoming camp, which gives local youth you an opportunity to sharpen their skills, learn from the pros and focus on health and nutrition.

Thirty kids will also go on a shopping spree with Kenyon Martin at Southwest Center Mall sponsored by Academy Sports and Outdoors.

The Hoops for Kids Basketball Camp  free to 150 boys and girls, ages 8 to 16 years old through a partnership with DISH and the Kenyon Martin Foundation. The fun and informative camp is designed to instruct youth of all levels of ability and skill while promoting sportsmanship, respect for oneself and others, and healthy lifestyles. Campers will also learn life skills from DPD PAL officers.

The tip off will be at Southwest Center Mall Stage (Ground Floor) on June 18 starting at 1:30p.m.
