NBC greenlights sequel to Mark Burnett’s ‘Bible’

Mark Burnett wasn’t exaggerating when he told Variety’s Purpose Summit last month that he had more big faith-based projects in the works… One is a sequel to his “Bible” miniseries that will air on NBC.

“The Bible” bowed on the History Channel to 13.1 million viewers in March and drew nearly 11.7 million for its finale on Easter Sunday. Between episode premieres and encores, the 10-hour miniseries was seen by more than 100 million viewers by the end of its run. It was immediately released on home video and has sold 1 million copies on DVD, Blu-ray and DigitalHD
