FTC hits Plano debt collector with a record $3.2M fine

consumer-protection-debt-collection-noticeExpert Global Solutions, a Plano-based debt collection company has agreed to pay a $3.2 million civil penalty from the Federal Trade Commission. They have agreed to stop harassing consumers with “allegedly illegal debt collection calls.” They reportedly would make multiple calls daily, even if they were asked to stop the calls. 

In a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in Dallas, the FTC charged that Expert Global and its debt-collection subsidiaries, operating under the names NCO Group, Transworld Systems, North Shore Agency and ALW Sourcing, illegally harassed consumers — many of whom claim they never owed the debt — in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
