One of the most successful coaches in the state of Alabama is suddenly out of a job after he was dismissed for what initially seems to be a remarkably trivial reason: He attends the wrong church.
As reported by the Montgomery Advertiser, Prattville (Ala.) East Memorial Christian Academy super coach Scott Phillips, who led the school’s football program to its first state playoff birth in years and coached the boys basketball team to the first state title in any sport, was dismissed because he refused to force his family to attend East Memorial Baptist Church.
While Phillips had never been forced to attend the school’s affiliated church when he was only a coach, that changed when he became the school’s athletic director. As confirmed by the Advertiser, East Memorial Christian Academy’s athletic director was expected to attend the East Memorial Baptist Church, even though there was allegedly not an official clause in the contract requiring such attendance.

Editor’s note: It would seem these school officials have not heard of a little thing called the U.S. Constitution which guarantees freedom of religion. Hats off to Philips for following his heart. Is it possible to serve God at one church as He is at another – yes, but sometimes people are placed in one church for a specific reason. Furthermore, what does this teach the youth?
Would you sue the school district?
If they tried to offer the job back would you take it?
You should go back and read the Constitution.

That is the law. Why do liberals always try to turn the law
upside down?
Good point Tom, I was thinking about the spirit of the freedoms we celebrate.
May I ask, why do conservatives always, conveniently ignore what God teaches about tolerance, understanding and serving Him in spirit and in truth, when it serves their purposes?
I would think it is because conservatives do not obey God
any more than liberals do.
