Irving ISD school board member Norma Gonzales has resigned from the Board of Trustees. She submitted her resignation to Interim Superintendent Weldon Hafley and Board President Dr. Steven Jones earlier on Monday.

According to Board Policy BBC (LEGAL), the Board:

may fill the vacancy by appointment until the next Board member election, or
may order a special election to fill the vacancy.

Dr. Jones, president of the Board of Trustees, says the board plans to fill the vacancy for the remainder of this year.
