Annie’s List kickoffs off WeWantWendyDavis.com to encourage Davis to run for governor

davisAUSTIN  – Today, Annie’s List – an organization in Texas dedicated to electing progressive Democratic women – announced a new campaign to encourage Democratic State Senator Wendy Davis to run for governor.

“Everywhere we go across this state, Texans are raising their voices to encourage Wendy to run for governor. WeWantWendyDavis.com gives a vehicle to the groundswell of support she has and the desire that Texans have for a candidate who will fight for the middle class, women, and education here in Texas,” said Annie’s List Executive Director Grace Ann Garcia.

Wendy Davis skyrocketed to national fame after her historic 13-hour filibuster against SB5, which drastically affects the health and safety of Texas women.

“We here at Annie’s List have seen firsthand her commitment to improving the lives of all Texas families.  That’s why in 2008 we recruited Wendy to run for state senate, in what many saw as an unlikely and uphill battle.  Since then, Annie’s List has always had her back, providing training, staff, and over $665,000 to her campaigns,” said Garcia.
