First Saturday tours of AT&T Performing Arts Center

indexThe AT&T Performing Arts Center announced that free tours of the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House and Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre will be offered during the Dallas Arts District’s First Saturday events.

“The tours will give visitors an exclusive look at the history of the Center, its unique venues, and a behind-the-curtain look into what goes on here,” said Doug Curtis, President and CEO of the AT&T Performing Arts Center.

The Center’s tours are an opportunity to learn more about the Center’s world-renowned venues, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architects, and will complement the architecture walking tour currently offered by the Dallas Center for Architecture on First Saturdays.

“First Saturdays are a chance for everyone to have free, special access to the Dallas Arts District,” said Catherine Cuellar, Executive Director of Dallas Arts District. “But until now they’ve been mostly focused on the visual arts, west of Pearl Street. So we’re thrilled to have the AT&T Performing Arts Center on board.”

The inaugural First Saturday tour will be September 7. Tours last approximately 45 minutes and begin on each half hour from 10:00 a.m. to noon in the lobby of the Winspear Opera House.

Pearl Cup Coffee will be open in the new Information Center, and food trucks will be present throughout Elaine D. and Charles A. Sammons Park. The Center also offers shaded café tables and chairs, free AT&T Wi-Fi, and Ping-Pong and foosball tables.

No reservations are required for the tours, which are conducted by trained and experienced docents and recommended for participants eight years of age or older.
