To acknowledge the contribution of youth coaches across Texas, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles has created the My Plates Coach of the Year Contest.
Much work and devotion goes into coaching children, and this contest is a way to recognize those who do it best, while supporting local communities across the state with over $50,000 in prizes. In 250 words, highlight why your coach (or your child’s coach) deserves to be the My Plates Coach of the Year 2013. Give examples of how your coach has affected you and your team. Tell a story that explains just how fabulous your coach is, and share what sets your coach apart from the rest.
You have to be at least 13 to nominate a coach, and the coach must be at least age 18, a legal resident of Texas, and must have been coaching youth for at least one year.

Nominations are open until Friday, October 11, then MyPlates.com will choose up to 20 finalists in 7 regions of Texas and announce them on Saturday, October 19.
Grand Prize
$25,000 will be awarded to the statewide winner’s organization, and the personalized license plate COACH 13, valid for ten years, will be awarded to the statewide winning coach.
2nd Prize
$10,000 will be awarded to the second place winner’s organization, and a personalized license plate, valid for five years, will be awarded to the second place coach.
3rd Prize
$3,000 will be awarded to the remaining five regional winners’ organizations, after the first and second place coaches have been selected. The five third place winners will also receive a personalized license plate, valid for five years.
