A new pavilion and other new improvements at Meadow Stone Park will be showcased during National Night Out crime prevention activities at 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 1 at the southwest Oak Cliff park, located at 2700 Meadow Stone Lane.
A ribbon-cutting to celebrate the new pavilion and trail extension kicks off the community awareness event. A brief ceremony will feature remarks from Mayor Pro Tem Tennell Atkins, Dallas City Council District 8; Max Wells, president, Dallas Park and Recreation Board; Gail Terrell, board member, Dallas Park and Recreation Board, District 8; and Willis Winters, Director, Dallas Park and Recreation Department. In addition, Dr. Tony Evans, Senior Pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church, will take part in the ceremony.
“It is always a pleasure for me to take part in celebrating a space where thought and care, vision and dreams, hard work and cooperative efforts have produced something great for our citizens, visitors and city,” said Mayor Pro Tem Atkins.
Other park improvements are the extension of an existing trail, a new ½ basketball court, exercise stations, new playground swings, picnic tables, BBQ grills and drinking fountains. City park officials said monies from the 2006 bond program funded the $257,657 construction cost.
“Meadow Stone not only is a stellar example of the city’s commitment to enhance the southern Dallas communities but also is another beautiful park in our system that everyone can be proud of,” said Ms. Terrell.
