Alamo DFW special program: Contest, field trip, Film Rush

indexSpecial events at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Richardson take programming to the next level with a contest and a field trip for the Speed Demon living inside in anticipation of the film, RUSH, opening September 27 at Alamo Drafthouse, 100 S. Central Expressway #14, Richardson, TX 75080 http://drafthouse.com/dfw/richardson.

“In the spirit of Alamo and enhancing the movie going experience, we’re thrilled to offer the opportunity to take people from the screen to the track in honor of Ron Howard’s highly anticipated film, RUSH. Not only that, but the chance to win one of the greatest arcade racing games of all time just for going to the movies!” exclaimed James Wallace, Alamo DFW programmer.

THE CONTEST

Alamo went to great lengths (just ask James; he’s got a great story!) to acquired a 1982 Atari Pole Position F1 racing arcade cabinet in honor of the upcoming new release, the Formula One racing biopic RUSH, directed by Ron Howard and starring Chris Hemsworth as British racing legend James Hunt. Come and play the game for FREE in the lobby.

From now until September 30, every ticket for every movie you attend at Alamo Richardson serves as an entry for the drawing. Just write your name, email and phone number on the back of your ticket and drop it in the box located next to the arcade game in our lobby. The more movies you attend, the more chances you have to win. On October 1, the winner will be announced.

THE FIELD TRIP

Alamo Drafthouse Richardson is offering movie lovers and speed junkies THE SUPERCHARGED RUSH EXPERIENCE: a $40 ticket bundle that will include one-hour of private racing at POLE POSITION RACEWAY in Frisco, bus transportation from and to Alamo, and 2 beers per person for the bus ride topped off with a private showing of RUSH on opening night, Friday, September 27.

Advance tickets available online at http://drafthouse.com/dfw/richardson.

THE FILM

RUSH, directed by Ron Howard, stars British Formula 1 racer Chris Hemsworth. Set against the sexy, glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing in the 1970s, the film is based on the true story of a great sporting rivalry between handsome English playboy James Hunt (Hemsworth), and his methodical, brilliant opponent, Austrian driver Niki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl). The story follows their distinctly different personal styles on and off the track, their loves and the astonishing 1976 season in which both drivers were willing to risk everything to become world champion in a sport with no margin for error: if you make a mistake, you die.
