Irving ISD innovative program will encourage students to “Sample Something New”

IFThe Irving ISD Food and Nutritional Services department has launched a new campaign this year called “Sample Something New.” This is a year-long initiative where students (PK-12) will be encouraged to sample a new fruit or vegetable each month – for free.

The first free samples – mango – will be given away in all Irving ISD schools on Friday, Sept. 27.

To educate students about the benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables, activity sheets that feature facts about the free item will be distributed to students each month. To get students excited about the campaign, a promotional video has been shown. It can be viewed at: http://video.irvingisd.net/videos/iisd/web/ISTV/2013/September/SampleSomethingNewPromo.wmv
