NTTA highlights fall diversity program

Diversity-Profit-CenterPLANO – Representatives from 11 companies were the first graduates of the Cooperative Inclusion Plan’s civil contracting training program Sept. 24 at the Westin Hotel in Irving.

The Cooperative Inclusion Plan, created by the North Texas Tollway Authority, the Texas Department of Transportation, key highway players in the North Texas region and the regional contractor associations, seeks to grow disadvantaged, minority, woman-owned, and small businesses as well as historically underutilized businesses participating in heavy highway contracting.

The training class is designed to increase the heavy highway capabilities of CIP participants so they can compete for larger contracting opportunities. Taught by contractors active in the heavy highway industry, the class also brought participants and prime contractors together to build relationships.

Graduating Companies:

Bradley Douglas Construction

Civil Works

Tx TinMan Enterprises

Todo Construction

ACU Construction

EJ Smith Construction Co.

LeVis Consulting Group

QMF Steel, Inc.

KLP Commercial

Pegasus Texas Construction

Onycha Industries Corp.

Pegasus Texas Construction

The CIP brings D/M/W/SBE and HUB firms together with key industry decision makers; connects current and potential highway contractors to qualified subcontractors; expands the pool of firms ready, willing, and able to perform highway construction work; strengthens the skill sets and business acumen of interested firms and expands the participation of firms bidding on NTTA and TxDOT procurements.

For D/M/W/SBE and HUB firms seeking to expand, the CIP also helps develop greater understanding of how to meet key requirements for highway industry more.

The next CIP training class takes place October 18 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Bill J. Priest Campus, 1402 Corinth Street, Dallas, TX 75215.
