Due to the Columbus Day rainfall, State Fair of Texas officials announced yesterday that school tickets dated for October 14, 2013, would be valid through this Sunday, the last day of this year’s exposition.
The validation extension is offered only for school children scheduled to attend the Fair on Columbus Day and whose tickets bear the October 14 date. State Fair President Errol McKoy said, “With the return of Big Tex this year, this Fair is on target to be among the most successful yet; we know the inclement weather today disappointed lots of students and we want to give them the chance to come see Big Tex on our final weekend.”
The State Fair of Texas is pleased to offer free tickets each year to schools located within a 100-mile radius of the event.
Good morning,
I just wanted to clarify the above information. So is it saying that the students whose tickets were dated for 10.14.13 can now use their tickets this weekend 10.19 and 10.20?
Please advise
Thanks,
Concerned parent
Yes that is correct!
I am pleased to see allowances for the families that were rained out on Columbus Day. However, I was hoping the same courtesy could be afforded to the secondary students for DISD who only have this Friday to use their tickets.
Oh wow, I can appreciate your concern.
I was told yesterday that It was for any day not just 10-14-2013 for unused tickets?
I will reach out to the representative who provided this info and share. — Or ask them to respond here if they like.
Thank you for looking into this, because I heard the same announcement that the fair would honor all school fair day tickets for the last weekend. It would be fabulous if a response could be posted by the end of the day for me to announce it to my students.
Will do!
My ticket says September 30, 2013 or any Monday-Friday after that date but our district’s fair day was Columbus day. Will we be allowed to use our tickets this weekend too?
I am sorry they indicated it is only for those with tickets that had Oct. 14 on it.
