WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Marc Veasey, TX-33, announced that the National Endowments for the Arts (NEA) is currently accepting applications for grant opportunities to support the use of the art and cultural activities to revitalize neighborhoods and reignite local economies through its “Our Town” program.

“The Dallas-Fort Worth area is a diverse and rapidly growing community which provides a perfect intersection for art and urban life,” Congressman Veasey said. “The ‘Our Town’ grants will enable Metroplex residents to shape their social, physical and economic landscape through the arts. I encourage counties, municipalities and nonprofit organizations to explore these resources to rejuvenate and celebrate our diverse communities.”

The NEA will award grants ranging from $25,000-$200,000 in funding to projects, which include arts engagement, cultural planning, or design art, that contribute to the livelihood of communities. “Our Town” grants are awarded to local communities of all sizes to improve their quality of life and encourage greater creative activity.

The application deadline for the “Our Town” grant program is January 13, 2014 at 11:59 P.M. Applications must involve two primary partners: a nonprofit organization and a local government entity. Of these two, one must also be a cultural organization. More information on the “Our Town” application process and guidelines are available online at: http://arts.gov/grants-organizations/our-town.
