On Sunday Nov. 10 for the first time in the DFW Metroplex and possibly Texas, professionals (Navigators from the Urban League, Be Covered Texas, Community Council of Greater Dallas, and certified application counselors from Parkland Hospital) will be on-site at Holy Cross Catholic Church to enroll qualified persons in the Affordable Care Act Marketplace and Parkland Hospital Plans. Bilingual assistance (Spanish) will be available. Holy Cross congregation is African-American and Hispanic with extensive community outreach in south Oak Cliff.
This community-wide enrollment event is the result of over two years of effort to bring affordable health care to Dallas County by the diverse faith and school institutions in Dallas Area Interfaith (DAI). This event follows the DAI public meeting on October 17th with the regional Health and Human Services Director Marjorie Petty and Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins.
All Dallas County residents eligible for individual coverage can sign up on Sunday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 4910 Bonnie View Road in Dallas.
The church has informed the neighborhood and membership the necessary documents listed in DAI’s Health Insurance Exchange booklet. Each person wishing to enroll should bring:
Proof of citizenship (SS Card or passport)
Proof of State Residency (Driver’s License, copy of lease, or utility bill)
Proof of income (tax return, W-2, or pay stub)
Proof of Legal Residence/Immigration Status (green card)
Method of Payment (How will you pay for an insurance plan?- No payment is required at the time of enrollment.
