Prostate Cancer Survivor Arrives Home After 555-Mile Inline Skate Across Texas

imagesProstate cancer survivor Keith Wegen will complete his 555-mile in-line skate through Texas with a closing event open to the public on Nov. 9 at Dallas’ Katy Trail Ice House.

Wegen will complete his journey, which started in Austin on Nov. 1 with a skate down the Katy Trail, which will be painted with ground graphics to welcome him home.?

His journey led him through the streets of Austin, up through Waco, Waxahatchie and finally Dallas. Diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 44, Wegen’s tumor was very aggressive and would have been deadly if caught any later, so he felt compelled to help spread the word about early detection and screening. All funds raised through the event benefit Prostate Conditions Education Council (PCEC)

In 2012 Wegen skated 395 miles across his native Colorado, raising more than $17,000 in much-needed funds for prostate cancer education and screening. This year, he took on a bigger challenge in Texas, where he works for employer and sponsor MERX Advisors.

Kate for Prostate fundraiser to begin at 5 p.m. Wegen is set to arrive to complete his 555-mlie journey sometime between 3-5 p.m. at Katy Trail Ice House, 3127 Routh Street, Dallas, TX  75201
Phone: (214) 468-0600.
