Irving Police charge 23 year-old woman with DWI and Evading Arrest with Vehicle

Julia Crain Brooks was arrested for evading arrest with a vehicle and DWI by Irving Police

The Irving Police Department shared via a press release information regarding the arrest of a wrong way driver on Tuesday night. According to their statement, around 11:19 p.m. the department received telephone calls stating a vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of State Highway 161 at State Highway 114.

Officers located the vehicle and attempted gain the driver’s attention, but the vehicle did not stop. The vehicle continued driving the wrong way at a high rate of speed and nearly struck other vehicles on the roadway. Officers successfully deployed spike strips, which slowed the vehicle down, but the driver still refused to stop. The vehicle was eventually stopped when an officer who was traveling northbound intentionally struck the wrong-way vehicle.

The driver, 23-year-old Julia Crain Brooks, was determined to be intoxicated and taken into custody on charges of Evading Arrest with Vehicle and Driving While Intoxicated.
