Sex offenders are using smartphone apps to find victims

appsToyia Bryant says, like most teens today, her 13-year-old daughter is on social media.
“She’s into Instagram. It’s probably the only social media I’ll permit her to have right now,” Bryant said.

The mother of four from West Carrollton says she carefully monitors her daughter’s account. “We were talking a little bit earlier about how people, like predators and people of that nature, have access to being able to get in touch with them.”

Police say sexual predators are now turning to mobile apps to find victims.

“They’re looking for someone that’s gonna get on there and talk to them. Give them personal information and their gonna use that as avenue to meet these young people,” Centerville Police officer John Davis, said.
