4 DISD schools nominated for 2014 Blue Ribbon recognition

DISD-Logo-300DALLAS—Four Dallas ISD schools have been nominated for recognition as a national 2014 Blue Ribbon School. The honor recognizes public and private schools that have students who perform at high levels.

The district schools nominated are: Henry W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy, Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy, Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Jr. Early College High School (formerly Middle College), School of Business and Management at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center.

Twenty-five Texas schools were nominated for the 2014 honor. Schools are selected based on how well students perform on state assessments or nationally normed tests. Each school has an economically disadvantaged population of 40 percent or greater.

The schools will now complete a rigorous application process. The national winners will be announced September 2014.
