Tom Sanchez thanks supporters for efforts in campaign

sanchezFORT WORTH — U.S. Congressional Candidate Tom Sanchez accompanied by friends, family and supporters conceded his election, after seeking the Democratic Party’s nomination for the 33rd congressional district of Texas.

“This evening, I called Congressman Marc Veasey to concede and congratulate him on his victory,” said Sanchez. “For us, the people of
the 33rd district of Texas, this campaign has always been about our future.

“Our campaign was about representation for the people and more importantly, stopping the cruel deportation policies of this Administration,” he said. “Today, the National Council of La Raza and others joined our efforts to highlight the wrongful separation of hard-working families seeking the American Dream.

“We are proud of our campaign, grateful to our supporters and will continue our efforts to stop this Administration’s cruel deportation policies,” Sanchez said. “I asked Congressman Veasey to join me in strongly opposing the President’s proposed FY 2015 budget released today, seeking another $3 Billion to build fences and continue wrongful deportations.”

Sanchez, a 61-year-old Texas-based attorney and U.S. Marine Corps veteran, stressed that his run has been about giving a Congressional voice to people of the 33rd District, which was created in a bipartisan effort to recognize the increased population recorded by the 2010 Census.

The Sanchez campaign watch party doubled as a 96th birthday celebration for his mother, Josefina Sanchez, who was in attendance to be serenaded by Northside High School’s award-winning 20-member mariachi band.
