Irving City Councilman Dennis Webb has solid lead following early results on election night

Irving City Councilman Dennis Webb is running for re-election.
Irving City Councilman Dennis Webb is running for re-election.

Dennis Webb’s re-election bid to the Irving City Council for a second term representing District 3 is enjoying a comfortable lead as the election results are coming in.

The polls closed at 7 p.m. tonight and according to the Dallas Elections website, Webb is leading with 344 votes compared to his challenger, Billy Hickman’s 233 votes. However, only 3 of 11 precincts have reported so far. The lead is bolstered by Webb’s performance in early voting.

Apparently the Irving mayor race is done, because incumbent Mayor Beth Van Duyne has a commanding 69% to 30% lead over former Mayor Herbert Gears.

The one race in Irving that appears too close to call is District 5 where incumbent Rose Cannady (49.39%) is slightly behind challenger Oscar Ward (50.61%). They are only 15 votes apart at this stage with 4 of 20 Precincts Reporting. So clearly the night is young on this race.
