Frisco Fire Dept. determine the duplex fire started with a cooking accident

frisco fire deptFire investigators say this afternoon’s duplex fire was sparked by a cooking accident.

Investigators say residents were heating some oil on the stove when the pan ignited. A man and his uncle were burned during their attempts to put out the fire themselves.  The man’s wife dialed 911 for help at approximately 12:39 p.m.

When firefighters arrived at the duplex at 9864 Camfield Avenue, they found residents had escaped the burning home.  The man’s wife and his children managed to get out safely without being hurt.  Firefighters did rescue two dogs.  The fire was extinguished at approximately 1:45 p.m.

The fire caused extensive damage to both units of the duplex.  A value for estimated damages is not available at this time.

The two men who were injured remain at Parkland Hospital tonight where they’re being treated for burns.  Their conditions are unknown.
