The new luxurious, trendy, and upscale place to live isn’t located in Uptown, McKinney, or the West Village. Lancaster Urban Village is the new “it” place to live in the metroplex and it is in the heart of South Dallas right next to the Dart Rail.
Sherman Roberts is the President and CEO of City Wide Community Development Corporation, the non-profit organization which developed the complex. The development was a $30 million investment of which only $3.8 million came from the city. Roberts is currently working on redeveloping two other housing and retail development projects as well as the site where the old Rudy’s Chicken once stood.
Lancaster Urban Village is on Lancaster Road, right across from the VA Hospital and boasts 193 upscale apartments sitting above 14,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Residents will enjoy luxurious living at an affordable price. Amenities include a private pool, washers and dryers in every unit, upscale fitness center, a dog park, private backyards, and units with granite countertops and hardwood floors.
The property has 23 floor plans that include efficiencies, as well as one, two, and three bedroom units. Rent starts at $564 for an efficiency; $693 for a one-bedroom; $943 for a two bedroom; and $1,223 for a three bedroom unit. Almost 20 tenants are already slated to move-in; many of whom are returning to their roots in South Dallas.
