Alley’s House will host its third annual luncheon on Oct. 1 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. featuring keynote speaker Barbara Pierce Bush and Honorary Chair, Gloria Campos at House of Blues Dallas. Anna de Haro of Clear Channel Radio will return as event emcee.
Following last year’s breakout event with Texas Senator Wendy R. Davis, who shared her personal journey from teen mother to Texas Senator, Alley’s House is featuring another woman of impact, Barbara Pierce Bush, Humanitarian and CEO/Co-Founder of Global Health Corps.
Barbara Bush has spent her career focusing on global health issues. She has traveled extensively with the UN World Food Program and is a member of UNICEF’s Next Generation Steering Committee. Ms. Bush was named one of Glamour Magazine’s Women of the Year in 2011 and Newsweek’s Women of Impact in 2013.
Health education is an important part of independence for our young moms and their children. In addition to education and workforce readiness, Alley’s House provides education and resources to help teen moms keep their bodies physically active to care for their mental health, safety, and wellbeing. Encouragement, positive influences, and support systems are missing from many of our moms’ homes. Alley’s House provides counseling, mentoring, personalized case management, and relationship curriculum to help our moms develop into healthy and happy adults, therefore providing safe environments for their children.
Alley’s House is proud to announce its 2014 Crusader Award winner, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas. The award is given to an individual or community partner who has crusaded on behalf of the organization. As one of the largest nonprofit healthcare providers in the state, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas provides essential healthcare and education services for young women and families like our clients, who have limited healthcare options.
