There are new concerns over drones after three commercial pilots reported drones flying near their planes.
Now anyone can own drones, once used exclusively for the military. Dr. Chase Murray, who teaches at Auburn University, has studied their commercial use.
“In terms of FAA regulations, if you are a hobbyist, you have to fly up to 400 feet. You have to maintain line of sight. You have to stay clear of airports,” Murray said.
“There are public safety and privacy concerns. All these UAV’s have cameras on them. People are concerned about being filmed. There are cybersecurity concerns. Can you hack them?” said Murray.
