Jennifer Lopez discovers The Boy Next Door is not an ideal neighbor!

boy next doorBy Ruth Ferguson, NDG Editor

Jennifer Lopez’s new flick, The Boy Next Door is sexy and crazy. Sometimes a little too much of both, but don’t think too hard and don’t attend the movie with your grandmother and you should have a good time.

Lopez stars as Claire Peterson, a rather sexy high school teacher, separated from her cheating husband (John Corbett) while raising her geeky son Kevin (Ian Nelson). When a smart, handy and apparently caring young man moves in next door to take care of his last relative who is very old and very sick, it seems like a win win for her son.

Noah, played by the delicious eye candy Ryan Guzman, just seems too good to be true – so of course he is. But before the stalker-ish psycho side of him shows up, like Claire sit back and enjoy the ride.

Um, and quite a ride Claire enjoyed. This is not the move to see with your mom or fellow Sunday School class members because the filmmakers really walked right up to the line to keep this flick with only an R rating. In one scene, we are just a slight tilt of the camera away from male nudity. And the sex scenes truly stretch the boundaries. I actually found myself distracted by wondering why Jennifer Lopez at this stage of career is going that far — but then I decided she works hard at looking that sexy at 45, so stop hating!

Is the Boy Next Door an enjoyable, suspenseful, sexy popcorn flick? Absolutley! Don’t pay attention to the fact that you can some of the key resolutions coming a mile away. Don’t overthink how hard they worked at avoiding the teacher and underage student issue. And don’t ask yourself too much about why Hill Harper is overacting in a fairly small role.

Again just sit back and enjoy the ride!
